The Big Sibling project is a club and department tradition, thought up to connect first year students with their older colleagues.
Every first year who signs up is assigned a student mentor, i.e. a big sibling. The mentor is there to aid their little sibling in navigating within the academic community and give them advice, as well as info, on how to make the best of their new lifestyle as a university student – from materials and study tips for certain courses, experiences with CEL and literature course groups, all the way to public transit information, the best places to eat (or drink) in town etc.
In that, the student mentor gets an opportunity to help their peers, meet new people, improve their communication skills, attain a sense of responsibility for others, and maybe even strike up a friendship!
You can sign up to get a big sibling or become one at the beginning of every academic year – we’re excited to see your applications!
